Rebuild and Restoration of Geo. Jardine & Son, late 19th century
II / 16 stops • 18 ranks
The organ for St. Mary’s Catholic Church was originally built by Geo. Jardine & Son, New York City, for First Congregational Church in Jersey City, New Jersey. Relocated by the Organ Clearing House, the organ arrived in Portland with no casework. A new case was built, substantially smaller in size that the original, to meet space requirements of St. Mary’s. Restoration of the chests and action was done by Clifford Fairley and Jess Wells. The case was built by Jess Wells, and façade painting and stenciling was done by Dean Applegate. Tonal finishing was done by Richard Bond.
